As a historian captivated by medieval architecture in Central Europe, I found my retreat at Hradní Bašta to be a delightful journey back in time. The very essence of this 16th-century burgher house, meticulously reconstructed over seven years, exuded a sense of history seeped into every brick. Dining at the cosy upper restaurant was a highlight, where I savored traditional Czech cuisine amidst a tranquil ambiance reminiscent of days long past.The pièce de résistance, however, was the wine bar with an adjacent shop featuring wines from the renowned “U kapličky” winery. Selecting a bottle handcrafted by Livi Dubňany felt like decoding a part of Czech winemaking heritage. Coupled with the varied menu showcasing the best of Moravian wines, the gastronomic journey was truly exceptional.The lower restaurant's terrace offered a picturesque setting for dinners, where reasonably priced weekly menus delighted the palate. My only slight qualm lay in the breakfast, which though adequate, left me yearning for a touch more variety.In conclusion, Hradní Bašta is a haven for culinary explorations intertwined with history, making it an ideal abode for those seeking a taste of Czech heritage amidst refined settings.
